Description & Services

Information The focus of our board is to work on issues in our Community Health Plan from a Population Health approach, which means addressing the Social Determinants of Health.

We need volunteers!
Without volunteers from our community we cannot continue to fulfill our legislated role and provide funding to community groups/organizations to work on health initiatives.

Benefits of volunteering include:
- Learning new skills and meeting new people
- Learning about multiple health-related topics
- Having a role in health promotion in your community
- Having a voice in allocating Wellness Initiative Funds to community groups

Our other work includes:

Wellness Funds
The Community Health Boards (CHB) of Nova Scotia, through the Wellness Funds, support non-profit groups in developing healthy communities.

Wellness Funds support projects addressing local community health plan priorities and the social determinants of health, such as income, education, social supports, early childhood development, etc.

Funds are provided by Department of Health and Wellness.
