Information | The New Ross Family Resource Center was a established March of 1997, and is located in the "Old School" in the community of New Ross. We are a non-profit organization designed to promote the health and well being of families residing in the New Ross area. We have developed a wide range of community based programs and services, which acknowledge the needs of the people of New Ross, reducing the feeling of isolation and providing an atmosphere where all are welcome. We provide office space to the Municipality of Chester Recreation and Parks Department for a Community Coordinator, who serves our centre and the community by providing recreation programs and support for community organizations. Pre-School: This program delivers programs for children ranging in age from 2 1/2 to 5 years. Please contact Karen Snair for further information 902-689-2414. Playgroup: Bring your toddlers to socialize. Activities include crafts, songs, games, stories, and snacks. Suggested age is 1 month to 5 years. Program offered Monday and Thursday mornings from 9:30am to 11:30am and the cost is free. Family Gym Night: In partnership with New Ross Consolidated School we have access to the schools gym on Wednesday nights where we do different activities. Time frames have been established according to different ages. Dance Classes: In partnership with Dance ConXion we offer kidance, lyrical, jazz, and hip-hop classes every Friday. Plug Into Music: Local musician Jamie Junger will develop an appreciation of music, performing and recording tips from the pros, song writing, stage craft & much more. Summer Programs: We offer a variety of summer programs to children and youth in the summer, an example of our programs are: day camps, crafts, parent and tot and much more. Swim Classes: Red Cross Swim Classes are offered throughout the summer months. Prenatal program, a great way to learn more about pregnancy, childbirth, meeting other mom's and having a new baby. Breastfeeding Support This free peer support program aims to support mothers, one on one with the learning experience of breastfeeding. Car Seat Safety We have a qualified Child Restraints System Technician on staff providing education & support for the proper use of child safety seats and safety belts. Nobody's Perfect For parents with children birth to age 5 where parents come together to solve parenting concerns and questions with qualified staff. Tumblebugs For children ages 3.5 - 5 years an introduction to basic movement and modified gymnastics. Rainbows fosters emotional healing among children, grieving from a loss or life-altering crisis. Girl Talk is for girls ages 9 to 12 a group setting to talk about things that are important to them. Alzheimer Support Group |
