Description & Services

Information

Hants Learning Network Association offers a great variety of FREE programs for adults in addition to FAMILY LITERACY FUN.

Mission Statement:
Hants Learning Network Association works to improve the lives of residents by promoting lifelong learning and providing opportunities for all to improve their literacy skills in a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

With representation and funding from various organizations, we have grown dramatically in the past ten years. HLNA offers a variety of programs for adults throughout West Hants, including:

- One-on-One Tutoring Program
- Adult Learning Program Level 1
- Adult Learning Program Level 2
- Adult Learning Program Level 3
- Adult Learning Program Level 1/2 & 3 (Evenings)
- G.E.D. Preparation
- Computer Basics

Learners may enter programs at any time throughout the school year and work at their own pace.

Small class size and individual instruction are the hallmarks of the levels classes. All learners are assessed to determine placement in the class that is right for them. All levels class instructors are qualified teachers who follow course material and outcomes prescribed by the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education.

Looking for a fun activity to do as a family?
Is homework time a struggle?
Need tips on how to make learning more fun for the whole family?
Want to be able to help your child with reading, writing, and math?

Try…FAMILY LITERACY FUN!

Open to parents, guardians, and other adults (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.) who are interested in learning ways to help their elementary school-aged children with reading, writing, and math. JOIN ANYTIME! Your children do not have to attend a particular school for your family to attend the program there. Homeschooling families are welcome. Registration is not required.

If you are interested in the Family Literacy Fun program, but don't see a West Hants location near you, please ask your school's principal about bringing the program to your area.
