The Annapolis Valley Chapter of Autism Nova Scotia began as the Valley Autism Support Team (or V.A.S.T.) in 1996. In 2012 V.A.S.T joined with Autism Nova Scotia in order to work together to enhance programs and services in the Annapolis Valley and to support provincial initiatives. The Chapter is led by a group of dedicated volunteers and has now expanded to serve over 200 families. Programs in the Annapolis Valley Chapter include: Summer Day Camp, Preschool Playgroup, Social Groups for School-Age Children, Teens and Adults and Arts & Crafts. The Chapter also regularly hosts family events, parent support groups, educational workshops and information sessions. In February 2015 the Chapter opened an Autism Centre in Kingston which houses a sensory gym, a calming room and a resource library. Families and school groups are welcome to drop in during regular office hours. Please follow our Facebook page for current information on program offerings and much more! |
