Description & Services
Information
The Windsor-West Hants Pumpkin Regatta can truly be called one of Canada’s must unusual, challenging and entertaining sporting events. It is the ultimate test of man’s (and woman’s and children’s) ability to harness nature. And nature comes in the form of 600-pound pumpkins that must be paddled across a choppy Lake Pesaquid.

Hurricane Dorian Squashes this year"s Windsor~West Hants regular Pumpkin Regatta

The majority of gourds for the regatta come from the Dill Family Farm in Windsor. This years growing season had a very late start with May and June being exceptionally wet and fields unable to be plowed and planted. When transplants were finally set, July and most of August were exceptionally hot and dry, hampering growth. And then came Hurricane Dorian, whose category 2 winds and heavy rains severely damaged vines and leaves that provide nutrients to the gourds.

But the great news is, Pumpkin Regatta Plan P has come into effect!
